What are some challenges you faced throughout your transformation and how did you overcome them?

I faced multiple challenges throughout my fitness journey, and as my journey continued new challenges came up for me. Initially when I first started, I had a very hard time learning how to do the many different types of movements and lifts in a safe way. All I wanted to do was stick more weight on my barbell without taking into consideration that I was not lifting correctly.

Another issue for me was nutrition. I come from a culture where overeating happens often, and we are encouraged to eat a lot. I was also used to eating out 4-5x a week. As a full time college student and a part-time legal assistant I made poor choices with the things I ate because of how convenient it was.

What did you learn?

When it came to lifting, I had to learn to slow down, make sure I moved through every position correctly before moving on. Once I learned this, I was able to excel very quickly and lift more, and move faster because of it.

When it came to nutrition, I had to learn how to make better choices in the foods I ate and also eat small portions. With the help of coaches and my fellow athletes I learned that I don’t need to cut out all the foods I love, but instead have them in moderation while increasing the foods that made me feel good and train better.

What are some challenges you faced throughout the your transformation and how did you overcome them?

My biggest challenge was eating healthy and giving up the junk food and sugary drinks. Little by little I did. It was hard, but worth it.

Advice for future challengers?

My advice to new challengers is to commit, believe  and don’t focus on what the person next to you is doing we all have different obstacles and abilities but what you do just keep moving and don’t give up on your goals.

What’s next for you?

The next step for me is to keep on learning more movements and break personal records.
