VCF Athletics offers classes seven days a week for every age range and skill level. From “Burn” (think bootcamp style), to both Olympic (“Weightlifting”) and power lifting (“Iron Pile”), “Gymnastics,” “Endurance,” “Recover,” and Pilates, our coaches will help you get the most out of your workouts in our welcoming and accommodating small group setting.

WHAT IS FUNCTIONAL FITNESS?

A training philosophy with constantly varied, high-intensity functional movements, that coaches people of all ages, shapes, sizes and fitness levels to improve their physical well-being and cardiovascular fitness in a hardcore yet accepting and encouraging environment. Our focus is to make you the best version of yourself physically as well as in your everyday life.

I HAVEN’T WORKED OUT IN A LONG TIME. CAN I STILL DO THE WORKOUT?

Of course! Functional Fitness is for anyone regardless of your fitness level, and everyone is encouraged to go at their own pace. We recommend signing up for a free* introductory class, then discussing any thoughts or questions you may have regarding the workout or your fitness goals with our experienced staff and  coaches before class.

I HAVE ISSUES WITH (PART OF THE BODY). CAN I STILL DO THE WORKOUT?

Absolutely. Our coaches are trained to provide scales for each exercise so you can still meet the intended stimulus of the workout. In addition to offering low-impact bike, row, and ski machines for lower body injuries or orthopedic restriction. We offer light weight and resistance functional movements for upper body or arthritic restrictions.

I’M PREGNANT. CAN I STILL DO THE WORKOUT?

If you’ve already been doing Functional Fitness workouts and become pregnant, check with your doctor first. If you are a few months into your pregnancy and haven’t been doing any sort of fitness training, wait until after you have your baby and we can help get you back into shape!

HOW MUCH DOES VCF ATHLETICS COST (What types of memberships are there)?

We offer three different membership plans: Limited, Unlimited and Class Package. The Limited plan offers 3 classes a week per month, the Unlimited plan offers unlimited classes per month the Class Package rates and fees vary based on the amount of classes, but your first class is FREE (Local residents only. Certain restrictions apply — contact your local studio for details.)

HOW LONG IS CLASS?

Most of our classes are a nice 1 hour long!

ARE THERE CLASSES FOR BEGINNERS?

Our workouts are designed for all fitness levels. No matter where you are in your fitness journey, our coaches can help scale your workout to help you feel comfortable while achieving the results you want.

DO THESE WORKOUTS CAUSE INJURIES?

No, fitness helps prevent injuries. Just like with any training/sport there are risks and injuries can occur. Fortunately the benefits of fitness outweigh the risks.

 

To reduce the risk of injury remember here are few tips:

  • Take a rest day at least 1 day a week to let your body recover,
  • Increase your mobility with stretching daily,
  • Strengthen the little muscles around the larger muscle groups
  • Be conscious of what your body is telling you there is a difference between being sore and in pain. Do not push through pain
  • Drink plenty of fluids
